Class of 1902

Cap Anson--longtime Chicago player and captain (playing manager) he was the first major leaguer to 1000, 2000, and 3000 career hits.

Roger Connor--early great slugger who held the career home run record until it was broken by Babe Ruth in 1921.

Buck Ewing--often regarded as the greatest player of the 19th century, he was the greatest catcher of the era.

Paul Hines--tremendous center fielder was also the first player to win a Triple Crown, in 1878.

Al Spalding--greatest pitcher of the National Association era, later an influential equipment mogul.

Harry Stovey--greatest slugger of the American Association, he was the career home run leader prior to Connor.

The six undeniably great players represent the best of 19th century baseball and are terrific additions to the BBC HOF.
